COVID-19 Update for our Orthodontic Patients
Hello everyone! First, I want to thank you for your patience. I understand the wide range of emotions we all feel on any given day; I can honestly say I am no different! I understand concerns you may have regarding your orthodontic treatment. At this time the Pennsylvania and American Dental Associations, as well as Governor Wolf have ordered the shut down of dental and orthodontic offices. All appointments remain cancelled through April 30, 2020. We will continue to follow all recommendations by the governor and dental agencies regarding re-opening the office. Please know our top priority is keeping our patients, staff and community safe and healthy. Be assured that we are as anxious as you to get back to treating our patients and seeing everyone in the office!
Fortunately, there are significant things you can do at home to ensure that treatment is progressing.
Now more than ever, please strictly follow the FOODS TO AVOID list. Adhering to this list, as well as avoiding harmful habits, WILL PREVENT broken brackets or appliances. Unfortunately, the majority of orthodontic emergencies do not meet the strict criteria for emergency treatment. Therefore, we are unable to repair a broken/loose bracket or appliance. By preventing broken brackets you will be helping your orthodontic treatment stay on track.
Please focus on keeping your teeth and gums clean and healthy with good brushing and flossing. This will prevent cavities, decalcification/white spots, gingivitis AND will allow the teeth to move more effectively. Clean teeth move better!!
If you are wearing elastics, please wear them as directed. Patients who wear their elastics for the appropriate amount of time are the ones who finish their treatment on time or even early! If you need more please contact us and we can mail them to you!
If you are wearing retainers or Invisalign please continue to wear them as directed until we see you again. Please do not discontinue wearing them without consulting me.
Stay safe and healthy! I truly miss you all and look forward to seeing you again in the office!
